We had one full free day in Vienna and it ended up raining the whole day. None the less, I ventured out to see the city and do some shopping. I went on the Hop on Hop Off bus tour and took all three routes. To be honest, there really isn’t many interesting sights in Vienna. I heard the concerts are amazing but they aren’t my cup of tea. I did tour the grounds of Schonnbrunn Palace which were nice even in the rain. I ended up in St. Stephen’s Square to do some shopping that evening. Again, it was still raining and I managed to walk the wrong way out of the square which meant I was quickly lost. Luckily I had a map with my hotel marked and the Viennese people were very helpful. I was soon back on my way home dreaming of a wonderful Italian dinner at a restaurant near the hotel. Unfortunately so was everyone else in the area and the restaurant was full. So guess where I ended up... the local pub – shocking I know! I had a few drinks a very cheap grilled ham and cheese and called it an early night. The next day we were off to Prague.
Oh and a little update on The Boyfriend in Every Country Series – despite my best efforts I didn’t really find a boyfriend in Budapest (Hungary) or Vienna (Austria.) Sorry to disappoint. I did redeem myself in Prague as you will soon see!
