Pissy means rainy. It has been pretty pissy the whole time I have been here. Not a hard rain just a drizzle on and off. I am glad I brought my fleece and my raincoat. Unfortunately, I have managed to catch a cold along with about half my tour group. But I am not letting it get me down. I hope I am just getting it out of the way for the rest of the trip.
Yesterday we started off with a walking tour of Waterford which is the oldest town in Ireland. Next we drove to Blarney where I climbed up to the top of Blanery Castle to kiss "The Stone" to receive the gift of eloquence. I guess you can be the judge if I seem more eloquent!
Today, we drove to Bantry for a stop and I perused a local market. We also took at boat ride to Garinish Island which is a tropical paradise in Ireland and saw some seals relaxing on the rocks\. Beautiful gardens and grounds in general. We then crossed the mountains to Killarney National Park. The fog was blocking most of our view of the mountains but again, it was some stunning scenery. After arriving in Killarney, some of us went on an optional jaunting car ride (horse drawn carriage ride) through the park to Ross Castle. Luckily, the pissy weather held off for a nice ride.
A shout out to our driver, Margaret. How she navigates those tight corners and narrow lanes in a HUGE tour bus, I will never know. Also, our tour guide, Mary, is quite nice and knowledgeable. Let's not forget our sweet horse, Robin, on the jaunting car ride.
Cheers until next time!
