- There are cockroaches, rats and lizards. I have seen a few of each.
- Younger people are very nice and want to practice English with me. Older people will smile back at me about 50% of the time.
- Many Vietnamese laugh at me because I am overweight. I am not being overly sensitive, just stating a fact. They sometimes point, laugh and make big belly gestures. One guy even asked me how many kilos I weighed. I promptly explained that is rude to ask and he should say I am beautiful! LOL. Honestly though, I did expect this so it doesn't bother me.
- I have been ripped off. I paid double what I should have for my cab ride from the airport. In reality, it was less than $10 difference so I chalk it up to a lesson learned. The restaurants near my hotel are more expensive than others but I am paying for the convenience I guess.
- I am in the backpackers district. This equates to lots of drunk and obnoxious guys and lots of dreadlocks!
- I have cried and been frustrated with my job search progress. As most of you know, I am a doer and can't stand waiting for something to happen. Luckily, I am making some progress on the job front.
- I am bruised up from man handling my 70 lbs suitcases. I also missed a small step in my hotel lobby which sent me flying across the floor. My left leg is pretty bruised up and sore. Just me being clumsy....nothing new.
Nothing earth shattering but definitely not pleasant. I am getting along just fine though. There has definitely been much more good than bad.
