Well, I definitely got what I asked for in regards to my teaching position.
My first class was with 5 year olds who don't speak any English at all. So, for 2 hours I sang, danced, gave high fives, and threw a ball around in order to teach them hello, my name is..., red, blue, green and yellow. I will find out Sunday if anything stuck. I asked one of my classroom angels (teaching assistants who keep the kids in line) how I did. She patted me on the shoulder and said you tried so hard. LMAO. Needless to say, I was sweating and exhausted. But I felt challenged to make the next class better.
My second class was rowdy 8 year olds who are high intermediate speakers. Which basically means they can mouth off in English now. Seriously though, it was a good class and went a little more smoothly than the first one. However, I still have loads of improvements to make.
I am up for the challenge!!!!
Initially, I only had 4 in class hours on Sundays. Today, I was assigned 2 more classes (4 hours) on Saturdays so that was good. Hopefully more will come my way in the next few weeks.
