Lazy in Sorrento

I have a confession to make - travelling has kind of gotten to me after 2 months.  I definitely needed a break and glad I had the foresight to schedule a "vacation from my vacation."  I needed some time to sleep in, I mean really sleep in, get out only when I felt like it and go where and when I wanted.  Sorrento was the perfect place for some down time.  I did exactly as planned.  I have enjoyed the off season here.  There are still plenty of restaurants and shops open to satisfy most anyone.  In the few days I have spent here, I have seen some of the restaurants close and others bring in their outdoor cafes.  However, I had some A-Mazing food.  I highly recommend the asparagus risotto at La Lanterna.  The wine is good and inexpensive most everywhere.  Plus, you can buy it by the half bottle = heaven.

In general, I have found the people a little unfriendly.  My hotel family has been great but going to bars and restaurants alone has been a challenge.  Luckily I met some sweet Germans, Jana and Torsten to hang out with last Saturday night.  They were a lot of fun and definitely lifted my spirits.  However, after they left, it was kind of lonely so I headed home.

I spent a few days just sleeping and schleping around Sorrento shopping and eating.  I went to Capri two days ago which was nice.  The cruise around the island was well worth the 15 euros.  I went to Pompeii today which was also nice however I wish I had a guide to show me around.  I think I would have gotten more out of the trip.  Other than that, I have been lazy.  As I write, I am watching football (soccer) with several local guys from the hotel.  They may end up all being my Italian boyfriends.  =)

Signing off until China!  Ciao!
