It’s hard to believe but my adventure is half over. My list of places that I am going to visit gets shorter and shorter with each passing day. I have met so many people it’s getting hard to remember what tour they were on with me. I have already started to hear from some of my Ireland buddies through facebook and email which is really cool. I have had a lot of invitations to come visit my new friends mainly in Australia and New Zealand.
I will admit to some homesickness and loneliness. I miss my family and KC Mae (my dog). I miss my typical foods and not packing a bag every night to go somewhere. Plus, I have spoken to a lot of people and have only really connected with a few which can be kind of lonely. Luckily, my friends and family have been in close contact to encourage and love me even from so far away. Thank you for that! Plus, Breon, my sister, will be joining me in a few days for the Mediterranean cruise and I CAN’T WAIT! She is definitely going to be a ray of sunshine for me.
Overall, I am having a wonderful time even though I have to remind myself now and then to really enjoy myself and not to get grumpy about another early morning or bad dinner. I am totally glad I decided to do this and am getting more and more used to life on the road. I have packing my bag down to a science, I have concurred train schedules in at least 3 different countries (and more to come,) and I have tried a lot of new food and drink.
I have heard amazing things about my upcoming destinations from my fellow travellers which has really got me pumped.
I am also pretty proud of myself for taking this adventure. I didn’t realize what a big deal it was until I started talking to other people and they say how much they wish they had done something like this when they were younger. I feel very blessed that I was in a good place financially, healthwise and through the support of my family and friends to take this plunge.
Well, on to the next chapter (and hopefully a Swiss boyfriend!) =)
I am so happy to hear that you're pausing to appreciate the experience. Savor every moment - even the bittersweet ones. And have fun with Bre. I know you girls will have a blast in Greece.
